With so much time and money invested into the project coupled with the fact that I am supercharging a Yamaha R1 bike engine, I thought it would be a good idea to have some fire protection. I decided to buy and install a "plumbed in system" that would be permanently hooked up ready to deploy should the worse occur. I will also carry a hand held extinguisher for smaller fires if they occur. I purchased a system made by RSS and supplied in the UK by 1st Race Ralling It's an AFFF system and came complete as pictured above with everything to install in the car. At £185 delivered it was one of the best value systems I could find. Installation The aluminum pipe was routed internally within the car and I used a combination of a pipe bender and my hands to form the pipes into the shapes required.
I have positioned 4 nozzles in the engine pointing at all the obvious places a fire could start, and 1 in the boot.
